Pineapple Common Yellow Poplar Cutting Board

This cutting board is made from Yellow Poplar. Poplar is very strong yet light. Most the boards I make and use for myself are made of this tree. I call this board Pineapple of Peace on Poplar. Pineapples are a sign of peace around the world. As part of my mountain culture I embellished this board with some flowers in the corners. My wife loves Sunflowers so I have a lot of Sunflower themed crafts. I procure my wood from a Timber Man close by to home here in The Blue Ridge Mountains. I get what is called the Culls. Wood that would be cast off from use as furniture or cabinetry. I don't believe in waste and find the Culls are more unique grained and have knots and blemishes worth showing. I cut, carve, decorate and sand each piece I make. I then add coating after coating of Coconut oil to preserve them from age. I always hope each of my cutting boards get used in the kitchen for cutting and serving. I have been making cutting boards a long time. I do know that most of my Cutting Boards are purchased and used a decorations and gifts.
